Hello Neighbors!
Where will the social media revolution end? First it was Blogger and I've been here since 2005. And of course there is the premier destination for all weight loss surgery friends: the LivingAfterWLS Neighborhood.
This year I hooked up with Facebook and Twitter to extend my networking. Now I can keep up with all my weight loss surgery friends no matter where I go on the Internet. And let's not forget the convenience of portability enjoyed from the mobile phone features!
And now -- I've taken the ultimate leap and put myself out there on YouTube. This has taken a leap of courage for me. You already know I speak to support groups and at conferences and I love meeting you in person and looking into your beautiful faces as we share the weight loss surgery journey. I love meeting you, hearing your story, making eye contact and knowing we are all in this together. Personal meetings, are for me, a mutual exchange of sharing, hope and empowerment. But with the YouTube I have to pull out all the stops and give it up for a big black unresponsive eyeball! That's a tough gig, putting on a stage presence for a big black eye, but I'm trying.
You can subscribe to my channel, Daily Kaye Bailey on You Tube, and catch my updates. I'm new to this and I am quite open to your hints, suggestions and ideas to make this a better feature to compliment the growing LivingAfterWLS collection of resources to support our weight loss surgery way of life.
Here is a look at yesterday's installment of Daily Kaye Bailey:

Happy Weekend Neighbors
Greetings Neighbors & Happy Weekend!
'Tis another working weekend for me -- hopefully the last working weekend for a spell. You know, September is my absolute favorite month of the year and I have been in the office every single day but two this month. What's up with that? Note to agent: No more September book deadlines! What's wrong with a March deadline? Nobody wants to be outside in Wyoming in March for Mother Nature's sake! I'm not sure if I have told you guys but I have another book coming out on the heels of the Day 6 book so no rest for the girl who can't say "NO!" The book coming out in November is the "Nurturing Neighbors Support Group Leader's Manual" -- I have a feeling a lot of group leaders are going to enjoy this little helper.
You can reserve my new book: Day 6 - Beyond the 5 Day Pouch Test here
Yesterday was fantastic! I was in the city for meetings and had a chance encounter, at the manicurist of all places, with a most delightful woman who is none other than the highly regarded fiction writer Cherie Benett! She and her husband, Jeff Gottesfeld, have collaborated on several books. In addition they have written for the daytime dramas Another World and As the World Turns and Warner Brother's Smallville. She is a lovely and gracious person. You may see her in the Neighborhood soon as she is considering a lap-band procedure in hopes of relieving the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis. I assured her our good Neighbors would extend a warm hand of welcome. It was a very special day!
With the cooler weather I have been keeping my personal commitment to walk puppy (Now 18 months old - ha!) Charvie every afternoon/evening. We have been taking long walks around our pond and down through the horse pasture. This is in addition to my early morning treadmill walk. I just want to say what good nature does the soul after a long day at work staring down the face of technology. I feel so blessed that I can and AM making time for this priority. And I think my little (95-pound) dog likes it too!
Have a great weekend everyone!
Watch your inbox tomorrow for the You Have Arrived Newsletter -- My YouTube debut will be linked in it. After that you can catch the Monday through Friday 2-minute "Daily Kaye Bailey" on this channel: http://www.youtube.com/KayeBailey
(Unless I think it is totally dorky and chicken out and run for cover!)

When used with the 5 Day Pouch Test or your regular post-weight loss surgery diet these soups are effective at curbing carb cravings without the calories or guilt. Just .81 cents per serving! Two great flavors: Hearty Vegetable and Tomato-Basil. Each order includes great recipe ideas and a free sample of the You Have Arrived Finishing Salt.
Carb Monster Soup Mixes
And more about soup from the 5 Day Pouch Test:
Has the autumn chill got you craving carbohydrate comfort food? Today's Recipe of the Week brings you satisfying carbohydrate-rich recipes that are packed with healthy nutrients and flavor and they will not launch you into a wicked carb-cycle. I promise! All recipes are made of foods low on the Glycemic Index - a measure of how your blood glucose levels are affected by food - so they will stick with you without causing a rapid rise (and then drop) in blood glucose. These great comfort soups will help keep you feeling full longer, help you achieve and maintain a healthy weight, and provide you with more consistent energy throughout the day.
Even though the carb-count appears high on these recipes keep in mind these are healthy carbohydrates necessary for healthy organs and metabolism. They are also rich in dietary fiber, vitamins and minerals. These are the good carbs and they are just as effective at taming the carb monster as crackers, cookies and chips; things that cause a rapid rise in blood glucose and result in weight gain.

The Word Diet
Yesterday, in the Cooking with Kaye newsletter which I know you all read, I revealed that in my new book, Day 6: Beyond the 5 Day Pouch Test, I reveal a creed that will change the way you feel about the word diet forever. In fact, I believe this original creed (which my publicist won't let me share yet ) is so powerful it will change the way you manage your fork, your thoughts and your weight loss surgery for the rest of your life. Now, this is all based on my research that most people who finally get to the point of WLS dislike the modern concept of the word diet. I believe this because after working in the WLS field for now six years it is the most consistent thing I hear from pre-ops: "I am tired of dieting; that's why I want the surgery."
So for the sake of conversation (and don't worry - the book is done so you won't be quoted) what are your feelings about diet or dieting?
Go to the Neighborhood and vote in the poll & leave your comments.
And the shameless plug -- Reserve your signed & numbered copy of my new book - Day 6: Beyond the 5 Day Pouch Test -- shipping on October 27, 2009

Countdown to my 10-Year Arrivalversary
Hey Neighbors!!!
This coming Sunday, September 13, 2009, will mark my 10 year Arrivalversary!!! I am gobstruck that 10 years have come and gone. It seems like the 6 months prior to WLS lasted forever while I was in the waiting mode. And now 10 years of Living are behind me. And what a great 10 years they have been. I'm so grateful to be healthy and fit and more importantly that the LivingAfterWLS Project was born and raised during that time.
The big celebration of my Arrivalversary is the publication of my new book - Day 6: Beyond the 5 Day Pouch Test which will be out October 27th. (Shameless advertisement - you can reserve your copy here with our pre-publication sale. First 100 copies signed & numbered by me). Honestly - that should be enough of a celebration....
BUT -- I want to do something really big (not bungee jumping MOUJ) --- Any suggestions?
....
And here's what they came up with:
--From BeJean"Congrats!
I say get a tatoo, the LAWLS ribbons (logo) w/ "10 years" ."
--My Reply"OMG! Thank you, everyone. I just burst into tears reading this thread and I'm pretty sure it is down home sentimentality, not the hormones talking! I've wanted a tattoo for years but never thought of anything that "fits" --- but the LAWLS ribbon rainbow! Perfect. Thanks Jeanie for the suggestion. Jim is getting his first tat next month (grandson Mason designed it for him) and I think I'll go along for some ink of my own. Perhaps on the ankle? Ribbon Rainbow with "You Have Arrived" seems perfect!!! (Does it hurt to get inked?)"
So what do my dear blogger friends think??
